Mamoru regards him as the bog who barks at the dead fish because he regards the fish as his friend. He feels that he has the same position as the fish. He wants to wake up the fish by pretending using the animal words "bow-wow" instead of using human language. I think he has his own innocents and purity which is natural. He wants to be with Mr. Carp and he does not suspect Mr Carp like his father or his sister do. He has his pure mind because he is just only a child or because of his kind personality. He is the only person who try to take care of the fish and be kind to the fish. Actually, fish does not do anything wrong. The adults' world is very complicated and they even suspect the fish and they think the fish has the memory, feelings and judgements. Actaully, the father ,who feels pressured because of the affair with that lady, think the Mr. Carp is the revenge of that lady. He even feels annoyed by Mr. Carp. Also, the mother and sister do not like Mr. Carp because of its suspicious appearances and they try to avoid Mr. Carp and they kill Mr. Carp. I think Mr. Carp is like a symbols of something new or suspicious. For the boy, he just accepts and takes care of it. For the father, it threatens him. For the sister, she hates him. For the mother, she suspects it. I think people might project their suspects, insecurities and hatred toward something or somebody who actually do not have connections to it. The death of the fish makes the boy sad. The death of the fish makes the father released. The death of the carp makes the mother and daughter succeed.
Only a fish makes different people have different attitudes toward it. It can reveal how people reacts to something new or suspicious. However, for the suspicious and new thing, people might try to get rid of it instead of accept it.

The father brings the boy to see his lovers' hunts and neighborhood, why the father takes him there. Also, if the boy knows that his father has lover. If he knows, do you think he will be angry with it or not? How do you think it is?
