he third night
I think the child symbolizes the bad things which this man did. In the end of the article, the man realizes that he kills a blind and at this moment the child becomes a stone which is very heavy on his back. Once he realizes what he does badly in the past, he feels regretful and guilty about himself and the bad thing like a stone carried on his mind. In the beginning of the story, the man does not realize what he does badly in the past and he just feels strange about the way how the child tells him. The child says that the man will feel heavy later. When the man does not know his past sin, he does not feel guilty and regretful. Once the he is reminded of his sin, he feels guilty and regretful, which makes him feel heavy in mind because he cannot easily forgive himself. I think the child is the sin which he makes in the past. Now the sin comes back to make a revenge for what he does before. The sin makes him feel breathless and guilty.
The child is like the mirror because the child reminds the man of the sin which the man made. Mirror helps people to reflect themselves and, it helps them to know what they look like. This child reminds the man that he murdered a blind, which makes the man reflect on himself and look inside his mind. The child also makes the man know that the sin is dismissed by the man. In page 29, the child says that most people slight me and even my parent slights me. The child symbolizes the sin and his parent is this man. The sin is made by this man. The author seems to tell that most people ignores sins which they made by themselves.
The child makes the man think about his current life. In page 29, the man says that he needs to ease his mind and figure out the whole situation. The child’s judgement to the man makes the man think about the past and his sin.
In the end of the story, the child becomes a stone which is heavy for the man to carry. The stone is the retribution of what the man did in the past. The transformation of child seems to tell the man that now he has to pay what he did in the past. The stone is the god of stone, which seems to tell the man that he needs to be mercy in his future life, otherwise he will be punished by god.
The child makes the man reflect his past and pay for his past’s sin now. The child reminds the man what he needs to behave in the future.
Discuss Question:
In the article, we can see that the child can predict many things correctly even though he is a child and blind. What are the purposes of the author to create the child who are blind but he can predict future correctly?
