I laughed. Perhaps it was a bit mean spirited, but the image of a little kappa being chased cross-country by a bigger kappa in the midst of her springtime tickled me, until I realized how sadly reflective it was of our own society, gender roles reversed. Even though men in our world don't always (more often than rarely though) literally chase down a woman, essentially it's what happens when one strikes their fancy. I'd call it a mockery of male courting practices without regard for the feelings and health of the receiving person if it weren't for the fact that the female kappa was also a stereotypical seductress, and that the very physical exertion that they cause the males can cause a prized body part to rot off and even death. It seems like it can be read both ways: that the relentless pursuit of lust is ridiculous, or that the female is simply a being who leads good males to destruction across all species. But then, the kappa creation story also reversed the roles of Adam and Eve, so I might just be over-reading it.
Discussion: It's interesting, that after living with the Kappa for a while (or so he says), he became unable to function properly in human society. When the Kappa doctor claimed that it was really Dr. S-- and the psychiatrists who were insane, it seemed to me a commentary about how arbitrary and subjective mental illness diagnoses (especially back then) can seem, especially in the face of "possible other worlds" and cultures. Nonetheless, whatever we may believe, our protagonist is still an abnormality in the human world, and is treated accordingly. Anyway, the question is, what types of abnormalities would the asylum in Kappaland hold?
Also, what is morality in Kappaland?
