The relationship between the characters in both stories are very similar but the roles are reversed. In "Aguri", Aguri and Okada's relationship is materialistic and sexual. Aguri uses Okada for his money and to fulfill her materialistic needs. In return, Okada manipulates Aguri like a mannequin, where he dresses her up as he desires to fulfill his lust. On the other story "Portrait of An Old Geisha", Yuki and Kosono's relationship is more intellectual with a bit of materialistic involved. I feel Yuki and Kosono are reflections of each other. Kosono never really lived out her youth freely, therefore she kind of leads and manipulates Yuki down a path where he can freely chase his dream.
Question: In "Aguri" after Okada collapse, there's a small eerie part where Aguri is showing her annoyance with Okada and how she has power over him even after he dies. What's the significance of that part?

I remember this scene very well. To be honest it seemed to me as if this was not a real scen, just his imagination. But if I were to take it as a real scene, I would say that the point of showing how annoyed she is and how much power she has, is to show how little control Okadas really has. Okada thinks he is in control, but in this scene, you see how little Aguri cares or needs him. She just wants his money, and it shows how although he buys her things and takes care of her, he is still a sidebar in her life. This idea of loss of control goes with his sickness. It's as if everything is being taken out of his control.
