North No.2 is a robot that could have nightmares and nearly feel human in the sense that it portrayed a feeling we humans experience when we are beyond exhausted from something we have been doing for many years. The robot told the old pianist that he wanted to play the piano and it was stated in the manga that North No.2 had killed thousands of robots in a bloody war. Also, North No.2 exhibited behavior of understanding a human's emotions for example, the old pianist's perspective regarding his mother absence when he was ill during his childhood. Specially North No.2 response to music from the old pianist's dream is very unusual. One obvious difference between humans and North No.2 is the robot being an artificial intelligence possessing nonhuman intelligence and capacity to comprehend emotional conflict. Another important difference was that he was able to identify the emotions the old pianist expressed through music. North No.2 used the enjoyment of learning how to play a new instrument and music in general in order to quell his nightmarish past during his trouble wartime experiences. Additionally he refused an order from his new master, the pianist to leave the mansion and showed compassion and a willingness to provide a solution to the old pianist's nightmares which completely changed his mental state. I think it is much less confusing for robots to think about human's thoughts because they are not so caged in with their own 'drama' or in other words problems within oneself therefore they are a bit more free regarding this way of rational thinking.
